Boudoir Photo Session Checklist

What are the most important things to remember before your boudoir photo session? Here is 10 item checklist to help you prepare:

1) Order lingerie/wardrobe items several weeks/months before your photo session so you can return items that don't fit. Try everything on. If possible, get professionally fitted in a lingerie store.

2) Cut out tags from all lingerie. This is especially important for sheer or lace items where the tags are visible through the fabric.

3) Bring more outfits than you plan to use. Your photographer will help you determine the best looks for your shoot dependent on lighting, backdrops, fit, colors, etc. I suggest bringing 5-6 outfits.

4) Bring layers. A sheer robe or kimono are gorgeous over lingerie. A white button down shirt is beautiful in backlight photos. An off the shoulder sweater is great for layering.

6) Bring heels. The taller the better. Simple colors (black or nude) and a simple design (no straps) work best.

5) Stick with basic colors and solids or simple patterns. You want the focus of the photos to be on you, not your wardrobe. Avoid neon.

7) Make sure your nails are trimmed and polished or get a manicure the day before your session. Hands are often very visible in your photos.

8) Wax or shave before your session. If you can see or feel unwanted hairs, they will be visible in your photos.

9) Don't get a new haircut or spray tan (or regular tan) the week before your session.

10) Eat before you arrive for your photo session. No, this will not make you look bloated or bigger in your photos. Yes, you will feel better if you are not starving during your shoot.
